WATCH: The Keys To A Great Return Of Serve In Tennis
Hi everyone…Ramon Osa here.
The return of serve is one of the two most important shots in tennis (the other being the serve.) That being said, the most challenging part of the return of serve is that you cannot control what is being hit to you by your opponent. These three tips will help you get the most out of your return of serve, giving you an increased chance of starting off the point more offensively and neutralizing a big serve.
Move forward. You want your movement going forward as you prepare to hit your return.
Shorten your backswing. First serves are usually hit harder than groundstrokes, so shorten your backswing and focus more on making solid contact with the ball in front of your body.
Aim. Until you find your rhythm, aim your returns
- up the middle (singles)
- crosscourt (doubles)
Click on my video below and see for yourself how easy it is to get a great return of serve.
